Extraordinary Garden... «Life in its most basic form,

Biography

 Paris, France

Artist (Sculpture)

Born 1967

Jean-Claude Mazel and Yann Jalix are contemporary French sculptors. Their extraordinary garden is the result of the meeting of two visual artists. They combine bronze sculptures with polychrome patina, staged in a set that is both idealistic and symbolic but also united in aesthetic and positive research.

Jean-Claude Mazel and Yann Jalix met in the 1980s but really began to collaborate in 1989. They created their own foundry and set up a real creative dialogue where their respective works declined through different media, the same artistic discourse, and the same aesthetic research. In 2000, they decided to collaborate and bring the “Extraordinary Garden” to life.

Jean-Claude Mazel was born in 1950 in Paris, where he studied Fine Arts and Decorative Arts. Mazel explores different pictorial techniques but is essentially passionate about drawing. He was interested in sculpture very early on and pursued the same plastic research in this form, purifying and simplifying his models in a poetic exaggeration that gives the full measure of his work.

Yann Jalix, a sculptor passionate about bronze and a videographer, has been interested in plants for many years and creates installations where video mixes with photography and sculpture.
