Igael Tumarkin, a distinguished Israeli artist with decades of an intensely creative career in the course of which his work has been constantly in the public eye. Though born in Germany he is considered the most Israeli of local artists.
Working with Hezi Cohen Gallery for more than two decades, the relevance of his oeuvre and his cultural contribution have been officially recognized in his award of the prestigious Israel Prize in 2004. The judges lauded him as one of Israel’s leading artists, exceptionally inventive and varied in his employment of various media, including sculpture, painting, various graphic means and the design of monumental projects. In each of these he has produced important works of modern art.
